Outkast In Discussions To Headline Coachella 2014

Will Big Boi and Andre 3000 put Outkast back together in 2014 to headline Coachella? “Multiple sources” have told Billboard that the duo, who went their separate ways in 2007, are indeed in talks with Coachella organizers to start a reunion run in Indio, CA that “would be followed by additional dates.” Today’s report comes months after the hip-hop duo stoked the reunion flames back in January.

Apparently Billboard’s “multiple sources” don’t agree about the status of the pair’s talks with Coachella organizers, “One source tells Billboard that there have definitely been ‘some conversations’ about Outkast reuniting, while another says it is ‘all systems go’ for Big Boi and Andre 3000 to end their hiatus next year.” In Outkast’s absence, a few jambands have taken to covering the band’s songs, namely Trey Anastasio with his “Hey Ya!” cover and STS9 with their take on “SpottieOttieDopaliscious.” Perhaps a reunion will tempt Umphrey’s to bust out their long-shelved cover of “Roses,” which has gone unplayed since the very first Jam Cruise.

Coachella organizers Golden Voice, as well as the band’s label, didn’t respond to Billboard’s request for comment by the time the story broke.
