Watch Oteil Burbridge Cover Grateful Dead’s ‘Stella Blue’
Check out the Dead & Company bassist’s solo performance of the Hunter/Garcia ballad.

Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge shared video featuring a solo cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Stella Blue.” Burbridge recorded his performance of the Hunter/Garcia ballad in his music room.
“Wishing you all a Happy New Year! Here’s to starting out on a fresh note,” wrote Oteil in a note accompanying the video. “May your hope be renewed and your strength be replenished! Love from the Ozone.”
Oteil played six-string bass and sang the song the Grateful Dead debuted live at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on June 17, 1972 in the video. Next up for Burbridge is a trip to Mexico for Dead & Company’s Playing In The Sand destination events. The first weekend begins this Friday, January 7 and runs through Monday, January 10 with the second weekend spanning January 13 – 16. Limited packages are available via PlayingInTheSand.com.
