Bassist Oteil Burbridge began a tour with his new solo band in honor of the recently released Water In The Desert. Burbridge and his troupe played Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pennsylvania on Halloween.

Oteil is joined in the band by guitarist John Kadlecik, keyboardist Melvin Seals, guitarist Eric Krasno, drummer Jay Lane, percussionist Weedie Braimah and vocalist Alfreda Gerald. The show began with the title track to Water In The Desert. Gerald sang “Water In The Desert” as well as the “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” that followed. Oteil then shared vocals with Alfreda on “Run For The Roses.” The set concluded with versions of Bob Dylan’s “Gotta Serve Somebody,” Hunter/Garcia’s “If I Had The World To Give,” the traditional “Deep Elem Blues” and Oteil’s own “Unconditional Love.”

The second set started with Kadlecik fronting the group on Dylan’s “Tangled Up In Blue.” Oteil then belted out The Meters’ “Just Kissed By Baby” before Alfreda sang “Many Rivers To Cross.” The set moved on with the Jerry Garcia Band favorite “Cats Under The Stars” and a Kadlecik-sung “Bertha.” Burbridge showed off his emotional vocals on “So Many Roads” ahead of Gerald belting out “Piece Of My Heart.” Oteil Burbridge led his group through “Ripple” as the evening’s encore.
