Country artist Orville Peck recruited outlaw country legend Willie Nelson to duet on a cover of “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other.” The newly released single appears on Peck’s upcoming duets album, Stampede.

Originally released in 1981 by Ned Sublette, “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other” was later covered by Nelson, whose version was issued in 2006. Peck performed the song at Nelson’s 90th birthday celebration concerts at the Hollywood Bowl last year. Peck sought Nelson to record a version of “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other,” which grew into the larger Stampede project.

Peck did not reveal the Stampede tracklist or release date while sharing that the record features “a couple of my good friends.” He will embark on the Stampede Tour on May 28. The extensive run, which marks the return to the road for Peck, who postponed his summer tour last year citing his “current mental and physical health,” continues through October 20.
