Organizers Will Not Move Forward With Gathering Of The Vibes In 2017

After a run of 20 annual festivals Gathering Of The Vibes went on hiatus in 2016. Vibes founder Ken Hays recently shared an update on the status of the 2017 festival and has revealed it will not be held again this year.

“As you know, the music festival landscape is rapidly evolving, and with that evolution comes greater competition that is far more challenging for smaller, independent festivals like the Vibes,” Hays wrote. “It is with this in mind that I have made the difficult decision not to move forward with Vibes in 2017. I too am disappointed and had hoped for a different outcome. However, as the world changes, we must change too.”

Nearly every major jam act has played the event’s 20 annual festivals and many numerous times. Organizers also have promoted local talent as many acts became members of the Vibes family and frequent performers at the event. While Gathering of the Vibes moved locations a handful of times up until 2006, organizers had found a longtime home at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut which has hosted Vibes since 2007.
