Opening Night | Pink Talking Fish At Wanee
By Scott Bernstein Apr 18, 2014 • 2:40 pm PDT

Not only did Pink Talking Fish play their planned Mushroom Stage set, but they also performed aboard a flatbed truck that roamed the festival grounds. “We cruised through the festival grounds and had a Mardi Gras style parade of golf carts, bikes and on foot dancewalkers grooving out for the five-mile stretch,” Gould told us about the experience. “A great highlight was in the middle of ‘Crosseyed and Painless’ when the generator went out during the ‘Still Waiting” vocal line the band and the crowd kept an acapella “still waiting” going strong until the generator came back on and then we dropped right back into the song where we left off.”
Pink Talking Fish offered a number of interesting segments such as switching between the Phish and Talking Heads paces of “Cities” and working “Crosseyed and Painless” into the middle of “Down With Disease.” The band welcomed vocalist Sunny Trippel for “Great Gig In The Sky” and “Burning Down The House” during the Mushroom Stage set.
Check out outstanding fan-shot footage of “Run Like Hell” > “Slippery People” > “Tweezer,” “Have A Cigar” > “Houses In Motion” from the Mushroom Stage thanks to maskman1980:
