Opening Night | Jeff Tweedy Brings Tweedy To Detroit
By Scott Bernstein Jun 6, 2014 • 10:00 am PDT

As promised, Tweedy’s show was split into two distinct segments -one featuring the new band of Jeff, Spencer Tweedy on drums, Darin Gray on bass, Jim Elkington on electric guitar and Liam Cunningham on electric guitar, keyboard and backing vocals and a solo acoustic segment. Jeff and the band, dubbed TWEEDY, started the show by reeling off 13 new songs. Then, Jeff performed a string of nine older songs from his time with Uncle Tupelo and Wilco such as “Spiders (Kidsmoke),” “Passenger Side,” “Jesus Etc.” and “Misunderstood.” TWEEDY returned for a first encore of another new tune, “Diamond Light,” before Jeff returned by himself to end the evening with “I’m The Man Who Loves You” and “Acuff-Rose.”
All in all, TWEEDY unveiled 14 new songs in Detroit. Surprisingly, “I’ll Sing It,” the tune Jeff shared in announcing his solo debut, was not performed.
Here’s a look at the setlist:
