O.A.R. Tackles Bruce Springsteen & Paul Simon In New Jersey

O.A.R. are currently in the midst of a summer shed tour as the support act for Train, which last night found it’s way to Holmdel, New Jersey for a show at the PNC Bank Arts Center. The jam-pop act seized the opportunity for being near the ‘swamps of Jersey’ with an area-appropriate cover, as well as collaborating with Train on a cover tune during their headlining set.
O.A.R. ended their nine-song opening set by dusting of their take on Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s “Born To Run,” for just the fifth time since debuting it back in 2013. The band last played the Springsteen track in December of last year at back-to-back New York City-area shows during their XXMas Wish List Tour.
Later in the night O.A.R. members Marc Roberge, Jerry DePizzo and Jon Lampley returned to the stage to team up with Train on Paul Simon’s 1986 hit “You Can Call Me Al.” The cover, which the pair have been teaming up on nightly throughout the tour, also features Roberge and Train’s Patrick Monahan recreating a short part of the memorable music video that featured Simon and Chevy Chase that’s projected behind them during the performance.
