Watch Nubya Garcia Deliver Otherworldly Jazz ‘Odyssey’ For ‘Live On KEXP’

Nubya Garcia swung by KEXP in April to perform a session at the studios of the Seattle independent radio station. The renowned British jazz saxophonist and composer led her quartet through four songs from her latest studio album, 2024’s Odyssey.
Garcia was in Seattle for a show on April 13 at Seattle’s Tractor Tavern as part of their debut North American headlining tour. Nubya brought her band featuring drummer Sam Jones, keyboardist Lyle Barton and bassist Max Luthert to KEXP the following day.
The critically-acclaimed Odyssey saw Nubya Garcia collaborate with producer Kwes. Garcia enlisted members of her touring band at the time and guests including Esperanza Spalding and Georgia Anne Muldrow to contribute to the follow-up to 2020’s Source.
Nubya Garcia and her ensemble started their Live On KEXP set with the delicate “Water’s Path.” The four-piece then lit into the expansive “Dawn” before finishing the session with fellow Odyssey tracks “In Other Words, Living” and “The Seer.”
