The Nth Power shared a vibrant new single entitled “Dream Alive.” The track is the first preview of the trio’s forthcoming studio album, Never Alone, which comes out on May 1 via GroundUP Records.
The Nth Power – drummer Nikki Glaspie, guitarist Nick Cassarino and bassist Nate Edgar – received an invitation from Phish’s Mike Gordon to record Never Alone at a farmhouse studio in Colchester, Vermont. Each member brought demos to the sessions, which resulted in the eight songs making the tracklist.
“Vermont has an energy, there’s something special in the air,” Cassarino stated. “We were there recording late into the early morning hours one night during a lunar eclipse, and it was like the whole atmosphere changed. The creative force and beauty of where we were was just ridiculous.”
Guests who appear on Never Alone include New Orleans brass band The Soul Rebels, trumpeter Nicholas Payton, saxophonist Skerik and former The Nth Power member, vocalist Courtney Smith.
“We created this album with the intention of sharing love back into the world, with the understanding that all people deserve love,” Glaspie said. “You don’t have to know someone to love them. It’s about inspiring others to have more compassion for your fellow man, and mankind as a whole. We’re only here for a speck of time, so be nice. Time is precious.”
The single “Dream Alive” arrived with a music video recorded in San Francisco while The Nth Power was on tour last fall. Footage of the band was captured at Glide Memorial Church, where they “led a musical worship of love one Sunday morning in between tour dates on the West Coast.”
The Nth Power’s upcoming tour schedule will see the group supporting Snarky Puppy beginning in April, followed by additional shows leading into the summer. Watch the “Dream Alive” video below:
