Nine Inch Nails‘ Peel It Back World Tour rolled into London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday. Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and company brought their impressive new production to the UK capital and performed “The Warning” for the first time in over a decade.
NIN launched the Peel It Back Tour in Dublin where they unveiled their new stage production. Press materials for the tour’s Ireland and UK kickoff detailed the visual aspects of the show:
For this tour, Reznor worked alongside creative director Todd Tourso and MTLA.studio. Joining them is longtime NIN lighting designer, Paul “Arlo” Guthrie. The show features raw, handheld cinematography and immersive visuals projected onto translucent fabric—foregoing traditional LED panels and video screens in favor of a 3D, multi-layered environment unlike anything fans have seen before.
The shows have seen NIN performing in three stage configurations over the course of four acts and offering changes to the setlist each night. In London, NIN opened with stripped back versions of “Right Where It Belongs,” “Ruiner” and “Piggy.” Act 2 saw the tour debut of “The Lovers.”
To launch Act 3, NIN offered “The Warning” for the first time since 2014, as per SetlistFM stats. Originally appearing on the band’s 2007 LP Year Zero, “The Warning” saw NIN performing with openers Boys Noize, who stayed on for the entirety of the third act including the tour debut of “Only” and Act 3 closer “Came Back Haunted.”

The fourth act from the Peeled Main Stage contained three songs from NIN’s landmark 1994 album, The Downward Spiral, beginning with “Mr. Self Destruct” followed by “Heresy.” Additional favorites such as “Closer” and “The Perfect Drug” as well as a cover of David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans,” which Trent Reznor and NIN created remixes for, were also present in the final act. Following “Head Like A Hole,” after which Reznor smashed his guitar, NIN sealed the show with The Downward Spiral standout “Hurt.”
