Gratitude shines through on Nicki Bluhm's new single, “Simple Side Of Me.” The joyous track is the latest offering from the Nashville-based singer-songwriter’s upcoming album, Rancho Deluxe, which arrives on October 3.
After starting her music career in the Bay Area, Nicki Bluhm moved to Music City in 2017 to focus on solo work. “Simple Side Of Me” is described in press materials as “a love letter to Bluhm’s close-knit Nashville community as well as a feel-good reminder to practice the art of gratitude.”
Rancho Deluxe was named after the Nashville home studio where Bluhm made her first album of original material since 2022’s Avondale Drive. Nicki Bluhm and co-writer, producer and partner Jesse Noah Wilson recorded the 10-song collection in just five days with contributions from multi-instrumentalist Kai Welch (Kacey Musgraves), keyboardist/vocalist Jess Nolan (Jenny Lewis) and bassist/guitarist Cameron Neal (Elle King, Shakey Graves).

Nicki Bluhm described the genesis of “Simple Side Of Me,” stating:
“I wrote this song in my living room with my good friend, neighbor and collaborator Cameron Neal. We were drinking coffee and looking out over the yard and the horses, talking about touring and how much we miss home when we’re gone and I thought, ‘I just really love being here, why would I ever wanna leave this place?’ The song became an ode to the home I share with my partner/producer Jesse Wilson and our revolving door of friends and loved ones we share it with. It’s about being settled in the present moment and having gratitude for exactly where you are and who you’re with.”
