New Pink Floyd Album Reportedly Due In October
Earlier this year we reported on the release of a 20th edition box set focused on Pink Floyd’s fourteenth and what we thought was the group’s final studio album -1994’s The Division Bell. It turns out The Division Bell won’t be the legendary act’s final album according to Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson, as per Consequence of Sound.
Today, Samson tweeted “Btw Pink Floyd album out in October is called ‘The Endless River.’ Based on 1994 sessions is Rick Wright’s swansong and very beautiful.” Furthermore, longtime Pink Floyd touring vocalist Durga McBroom-Hudson shared the photo above on Facebook with the caption “During a session recording the NEW PINK FLOYD ALBUM!!.” McBroom-Hudson added, “The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled ‘The Big Spliff’ that [Pink Floyd drummer] Nick Mason spoke about), which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them. That’s the song you see being worked on in the photo.”

Sources tell U.K. paper The Sun that Roger Waters was not involved in this project and there are no plans for Pink Floyd to tour behind The Endless River. You may recall last year’s report that David Gilmour was working on his first solo album since 2006. Considering there’s also no word about Graham Nash and David Crosby’s involvement, as both have reportedly contributed to Gilmour’s solo album, we’d think The Endless River is a completely separate project. We should find out more when Pink Floyd’s The Endless River, which according to McBroom-Hudson consists completely of unreleased songs, is officially announced.
