Neil Young Reveals New Album With Promise Of The Real

Last year Neil Young teamed with Promise Of The Real to release the collaborative LP The Monsanto Years via Reprise Records. The legendary rock musician and the group featuring Willie Nelson’s sons went out on the Rebel Content Tour in support of the album, and it appears the two acts will release another new record this year.
In an article published by Rolling Stone, Young revealed he’s recorded another LP with the group composed of Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson, along with Anthony Logerfo, Corey McCormick and Tato Melgar. The new record is expected to be issued this coming June.
At an appearance this week with Cameron Crowe following a screening of Young’s Human Highway film, the man behind high definition music platform Pono described the new effort as, “[M]ore like a giant radio show. It has no stops. The songs are too long for iTunes, thank God, so they won’t be on iTunes. I’m making it available in the formats that can handle it.”
Young also told RS the recording process so far had been “effortless,” adding “I feel really good and amped and energized. And I feel like I’m doing something that I’ve never done before.” Before the new record is released this summer, Royal Potato Family will issue Something Real, a new LP by Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real, on March 11 featuring Young on a track. The two acts will tour Europe together in June – the same month the new effort is planned to be made available. Head here for more from Young over at Rolling Stone.
