Neil Young Performs ‘Piece Of Crap’ For First Time In 15 Years
By Andy Kahn Oct 13, 2016 • 1:58 pm PDT

Currently between performances at the Desert Trip music festival in nearby Indio, California, Neil Young and Promise of The Real played the first of two shows at Fox Theater in Pomona Wednesday night. The concert was capped with a bust out performance of a song Young had not played live in 15 years.
Forgoing an often typically solo acoustic start, Promise Of The Real joined Young from the start of “Like An Inca” last night and continued to back the Canadian rocker on classics such as “Fuckin’ Up,” “Cinnamon Girl,” “Cortez The Killer,” “From Hank To Hendrix,” “Powderfinger” and others. New songs “Show Me.” “Neighborhood,” “Texas Rangers” and “Peace Trail” also entered last Wednesday’s setlist. The main set closed with Young and POTR delivering a rendition of “Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black).”
The encore began with “Roll Another Number” from the 1975 album Tonight’s The Night. It was followed by a break out offering of “Piece Of Crap,” from the 1994 LP Sleeps With Angels, which Young last performed live with Crazy Horse on July 28, 2001 at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival. Below are audience-shot video highlights from Pomona where Young and Promise Of The Real play again tonight:
