Neal Francis Releases ‘Prometheus’ Single
The track appears on his forthcoming 'In Plain Sight' album.
For In Plain Sight, Francis teamed with producer Sergio Rios, who also helmed 2019’s Changes. Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips) mixed the new album. Neal and his bandmates — guitarist Kellen Boersma, bassist Mike Starr and drummer Collin O’Brien — recorded the nine-track LP direct to tape mostly at a church that Francis called home following a rough breakup.
“I’m owning up to all my problems within my relationships and my sobriety,” the keyboardist said regarding the honesty he embedded within each In Plain Sight track. “So much of it is about coming to the understanding that I continue to suffer because of those problems. It’s about acknowledging that and putting it out in the open in order to mitigate the suffering and try to work on it, instead of trying to hide everything.”
Neal previously previewed In Plain Sight with “Can’t Stop The Rain” and “Alameda Apartments.” The former features Derek Trucks on slide guitar. “Prometheus” arrived with a trippy visualizer including artwork by Raul Urias and animation by Mary Vertulfo. Check it out below:
