Neal Francis shared an instrumental version of his 2019 solo debut album, Changes, via Colemine Records. The pianist and singer-songwriter also recently delivered a five-song set for Non-Comm 2021.
Non-Comm is a long-running event “for networking and cultivating community among those working in or with public radio music stations,” as per Philadelphia station WXPN’s website. Francis’ set took place on May 5 at Shirk Studios in Chicago where Neal is based and was streamed via WXPN. The set included “Alameda Apartments,” “Problems,” “Can’t Stop The Rain,” “Sentimental Garbage” and “Changes, Pts. 1 & 2.”

The latter is the title track to Changes, which arrived on September 19, 2019 and traces Francis’ struggles in finding sobriety. The pianist released a Demos EP from the Changes sessions earlier this year and now shares the instrumental cut.
