Neal Francis released the single “Back It Up” today via ATO Records. The shimmy-inducing song marks the singer-songwriter’s first new music in almost two years and arrives with an official music video.
Francis’ last studio album was 2022’s In Plain Sight. Neal followed with the live record Francis Comes Alive last November. The Chicago-based musician promises more new music to come.

“Back It Up” has been performed live sporadically by Francis since October 2023. “That song went through a few different phases before we got to the final iteration,” Francis said regarding his new single. “It took me a while to accept that it’s okay to have fun with the lyrics, instead of making everything so serious all the time.”
Neal Francis is backed on the track by guitarist Kellen Boersma, bassist Mike Starr, drummer Collin O’Brien and percussionist Terin Ector. While Kellen Boersma left Francis' band in September, he continues to perform live with Starr and O’Brien.
