Indie rock royalty The National returned to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Thursday night, just before today’s release of Sleep Well Beast. The National played “Day I Die” off the LP for their first appearance on Colbert since covering “Morning Dew” last year.
The Cincinnati-formed band was joined by a number of guests on Thursday. Matt Berninger & Co. were accompanied by a troupe of percussionists for the emotional “Day I Die.” The National also teamed with the New York Times to unveil a VR documentary about the making of Sleep Well Beast.
