Nathaniel Rateliff Performs ‘Tiny Desk (Home) Concert’

Nathaniel Rateliff is featured in the latest installment of NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series. Rateliff assembled a large ensemble to back him on four songs recorded at The Mercury Café in Denver.
The singer-songwriter’s band for the session features multi-instrumentalist Patrick Meese, bassist Joseph Pope II, keyboardist Mark Shusterman, guitarist Luke Mossman and drummer/guitarist James Barone as well as a string section consisting of Chris Jusell, Joy Adams, Adrienne Short and Rachel Silker. Vocalists Larea Edwards, Chrissy Grant and Kinnie Maveryck also contribute.

Rateliff opens with “And It’s Still Alright,” the title track from his 2020 studio album. The strings are then featured on And It’s Still Alright track “All Or Nothing” which comes to a rousing conclusion.
Nathaniel goes on to thank NPR Music for welcoming him and introduces “Redemption,” an original he contributed to the soundtrack for the 2020 film Palmer. Rateliff and company return to And It’s Still Alright to end the set with “Mavis.”
