Nathan Moore Shares Montage From Jam Cruise 12
Moore’s “Spot” developed organically on Jam Cruise 9, when he started playing acoustic songs just outside of the Jam Room on one of the boat’s side decks. The ship’s more song-based musicians would drop by “The Spot” to sing and be merry with Moore and his sidekick Bryan Elijah Smith. Many cruisers appreciated the respite from the high-impact funk found on the boat and would stop by to take a breather of sorts. “The Spot” has become more popular with each passing cruise as more cruisers and musicians have sought out the musical oasis.
Jam Cruise 12 went down on a different boat than the past cruises Moore took part in, but after using the first night for “recon missions” to find the best place to hold “The Spot” Nathan spent the remaining nights of the trip performing for cruisers along with upright bassist Lex Park, multi-instrumentalist Ethan Hawkins, fiddle player Jay Austin and guitarist Bryan Elijah Smith. Guests during the trip to stop by “The Spot” included Steve Kimock, Zach Deputy, Allie Kral, Paul Hoffman and Anders Beck of Greensky Bluegrass and members of the Infamous Stringdusters. Each evening around 1 a.m. Moore and his mates would set up at “The Spot” and would perform well past sunrise.
Moore kept a camera on hand to record not only some of the action at “The Spot,” but his experience on the ship in general. Enjoy his fantastic six-minute montage:
