My Morning Jacket Joined By Strings On ‘Colbert’

Last night, My Morning Jacket made their The Late Show With Stephen Colbert debut ahead of a four-show run at the Beacon Theatre in NYC that begins tonight. Jim James and Co. didn’t go at it alone as they were joined by a four-piece string section.

The Louisville rockers and their guests performed the slow and throbbing The Waterfall track “Tropics (Erase Traces),” which culminates in a powerful conclusion aided by the lush sounds of the strings. Watch MMJ’s Colbert debut:
