The Musical Mojo Of Dr. John All-Star Concert Coming Out On CD/DVD

Back on May 3, 2014 a special all-star concert thrown by Blackbird Presents was held in New Orleans at the Saenger Theatre billed as “The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: A Celebration of Mac & His Music.” The event that honored local legend Dr. John has been set for an official 2-CD/DVD and Blu-ray release.

Performances that took place at the concert included Bruce Springsteen and Dr. John on “Right Place Wrong Time,” Anders Osborne and Bill Kreutzmann on “Somebody Changed The Lock,” Widespread Panic with Dirty Dozen Brass Band on “Familiar Reality,” Allen Toussaint on “Life,” Warren Haynes on “You Lie,” Chuck Leavell on “Traveling Mood,” Jason Isbell on “Blow Wind Blow,” Mavis Staples on “Lay My Burden Down,” John Fogerty on “New Orleans” and others.

Producer/arranger/bassist Don Was served as musical director for the concert, heading a house band that featured Leavell on keyboards, local pianist John Gros, Funky Meters guitarist Brian Stoltz, veteran drummer Kenny Aronoff, and Dr. John’s regular collaborator, trombonist Sarah Morrow.
