Mumford & Sons headlined New York City public radio station WFUV’s 15th annual Holiday Cheer For FUV concert on Tuesday night at The Beacon Theatre in NYC. The band went back to their roots as an acoustic quartet and were joined by a string section for a set that included the live debut of “October Skies” from their 2018 studio album, Delta.
Yola, Nathaniel Rateliff and Mavis Staples took the Beacon stage for sets before Mumford & Sons. Marcus Mumford played acoustic guitar, Ben Lovett performed on upright piano, Ted Dwayne used an upright bass and Winston Marshall plucked banjo for Mumford & Sons’ five-song set. The band opened with “Ditmas” off Wilder Mind and then played Babel track “Lover Of The Light.” Next up was the live debut of “October Skies” ahead of another song from Delta, “Guiding Light.” The four-piece and the strings closed out their set and the event with classic “The Cave.”
