Telluride Bluegrass, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious music festivals, returned for its 45th installment to Town Park in Telluride this past weekend. Chris Thile kicked off the action on an impressive first day that also included sets from Billy Strings, The Wood Brothers, I’m With Her, Del McCoury Band and Tedeschi Trucks Band. It didn’t take long for the collaborations to flow with Sam Bush joining Billy Strings, Derek Trucks sitting-in with The Wood Brothers and the Tedeschi Trucks Band aided by Del McCoury, Ronnie McCoury, Bush and Jerry Douglas. Friday put a focus on the latest generation of jamgrass bands including The Infamous Stringdusters and Greensky Bluegrass. Both Sam Bush and Andy Hall sat-in with GSBG on “I’d Probably Kill You” & “Worried About The Weather.” The Telluride House Band featuring Bush, Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, Edgar Meyer, Bryan Sutton and Stuart Duncan rolled through bluegrass favorites during a set MC’d by Sam. Saturday’s action was highlighted by a live broadcast of Live From Here with Thile as well as Bush adding to a three song segment during Leftover Salmon’s set. Telluride Bluegrass concluded with Sturgill Simpson’s debut after a Sunday that also featured performances from Tim O’Brien Band, Yonder Mountain String Band, Punch Brothers and more.
