Guitarist/vocalist Tim Bluhm of The Mother Hips underwent an emergency appendectomy on Thursday night while the group was on tour. The Mother Hips canceled this past Friday night’s show in Seattle and went ahead with Saturday’s concert in Portland. A handful of changes have been made to this week’s California tour schedule due to Bluhm’s surgery.

The Mother Hips have postponed Tuesday night’s show in Fresno and a concert previously scheduled for Sunday, April 1 in Anaheim. Guitarist Grahame Lesh will augment the band at The Siren in Morro Bay on Wednesday night as well as at the Belly Up in Solana Beach on Saturday. A note from guitarist Greg Loiacono mentions the band is still waiting to hear about the status of Thursday’s show in Santa Barbara and Friday’s show in Santa Monica.

Bluhm & Co. will release Chorus, the first new Mother Hips album in five years, on June 8 via Blue Rose Music. The Mother Hips compiled clips submitted by fans for the “It’s Alright” video:
