More Debuts From Mike Gordon In Atlanta

Mike Gordon’s June Tour continued on Saturday at Center Stage in Atlanta. The Phish bassist and his band of guitarist Scott Murawski, percussionist Craig Myers, drummer John Kimock and keyboardist Robert Walter continued to roll out new material one night after a tour opener featuring four debuts.

The five-piece opened up with one of the Gordon/Murawski songs debuted on Friday in Charleston -“Here Today.” Following “Long Black Line,” Gordon’s band debuted a cover of Fiona Apple’s 1997 single “Sleep To Dream.” Set One in Atlanta also included a cover of Flaming Lips’ “Are You A Hypnotist?” The group’s second set featured “Take It As It Comes,” the tour’s third new Gordon/Murawski original and also contained a take on Mike and Scott’s “555,” a tune Phish recorded for Fuego. For the encore, Mike and his ensemble offered up “Meat” and another rendition of Here We Go Magic’s “How Do I Know?” Next up for the group is a performance in Louisville tonight.
