moe. Opens The Capitol Theatre Stand With Guests & Debuts

By Andy Kahn Nov 14, 2015 8:30 am PST

Last night moe. began a two-night stand at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York and fans in attendance and streaming online were given a special performance that included a pair of guests and the debut of a pair of new covers. The entire show featured keyboardist Nate Wilson (Percy Hill/AOD/Ghosts of Jupiter) sitting-in and Lukas Nelson – whose band Promise Of The Real opened the gig – joined in on part of the action as well.

Each of last evening’s two sets featured a debut cover performance by moe. The first came toward the end of the opening set when Nelson emerged to sit-in on “Rockin’ In The Free World.” Nelson, who along with Promise Of The Real recorded and album and toured with Neil Young earlier this year, lent guitar and vocals to the debut of the legendary rocker’s song. Nelson left the stage as the band moved from the cover into the set closing “Meat.”

After opening the second set with the familiar “Nebraska,” Wilson took lead vocal duties on the band’s first live take on Eric Clapton’s “Bell Bottom Blues.” A run of “Big World” > “Ricky Marten” > “McBain” > “Lazarus” closed out the second set. One more cover was still in store (though not a debut) as moe. and Wilson capped off the collaborative night at The Cap encoring with “House Of The Rising Sun.”

moe. returns to The Capitol Theatre again tonight and Nugs.TV is offering a live webcast.
