On Wednesday moe. concluded this year’s Tropical Throe.down at at Jewel Paradise Cove Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica. Once again the band was joined by Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne for part of the show and once again moe. dug deep for their loyal fans.
moe. kicked off the first set with “Defrost,” a golden oldie that had only been performed twice since 1997 before last night. “Defrost” led into “Akimbo” and the old school classics kept coming with “Threw It All Away.” Payne came out to lend a hand on moe.’s first cover of “The Harder They Come” since July 17, 2014 as well as the original “Bring You Down.” The group then trotted out “Montego,” a new original they debuted on New Year’s Eve and ended the set with “Billy Goat.”
The second set started off with “Kids” which was followed by the dream sequence of “Jazz Wank” > “Buster” > “Cantina Band” (Star Wars). One of the band’s signature songs, “Rebubula,” concluded the closing stanza. moe. had one more trick up their sleeves to end Tropical Throe.down on a high note as they dusted off “Tijuana Donkey Show” for the first time since July 8, 2007. moe. now heads to Colorado for performances in Boulder and Denver later this month.
