moe. teamed up with the American Cancer Society for the second October in a row to take part in its “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign honoring National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The group is giving fans a chance to donate in exchange for memorable experiences including the opportunity to have guitarist Al Schnier write them a custom song or to play golf with percussionist Jim Loughlin.

A variety of incentives are available for donations ranging from $100 to $10,000, while contributions of any amount will gain entry into a sweepstakes for VIP tickets to the 2023 Summer Camp Music Festival. The “Ultimate Fan Package” includes two tickets to the moe. show of the donator’s choice as well as the ability to attend soundcheck, sit in on the band’s setlist meeting, take a photo with moe. and other goodies. Additionally, the “Be in moe.!” package gives one moe.ron the opportunity to join the band for a day. The experience allows the fan to hang with the group throughout a show day, collaborate with moe. on writing the setlist, guest onstage during the concert and more.

Pink moe. merchandise can be purchased via the band’s online store. All proceeds from the merch and various experiences with the members of moe. will go towards the American Cancer Society, the country’s largest nonprofit source of cancer research funding.

The ACS cause is one close to the heart of moe. as bassist Rob Derhak recovered from a 2017 cancer diagnosis. “I was fortunate to have a huge team of people rooting for me and giving me support,” Derhak said. “The American Cancer Society offered help with so many avenues that I didn’t know existed which made me realize how important the organization is. They offer support for people who may not have that team in their corner.”

“Cancer impacts all of us – friends, family, co-workers, neighbors – all of us,” added Schnier. “Being married to someone who works directly for ACS has only made me more acutely aware of just how important the fundraising is – not only directly helping those battling cancer, but also in funding the research to make it treatable and not fatal.”

Schnier, Derhak and Loughlin are joined in moe. by guitarist Chuck Garvey and drummer Vinnie Amico. Garvey is currently recovering from a stroke with keyboardist Nate Wilson (Percy Hill/Assembly Of Dust) and guitarist Suke Cerulo replacing Chuck until he’s ready to take the stage again. Next up for moe. is a three-night stand at Boulder’s Fox Theatre on November 4, 5 and 6. Livestreams are available through Mandolin.

Female breast cancer overtook lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer worldwide in 2020. Thanks in part to the efforts of the American Cancer Society as well as advances in treatment and earlier detection via increased awareness and mammography screening, the death rate from breast cancer has fallen 41 percent between 1989 and 2018. The ACS launched its “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign to encourage more male community leaders and influencers to get behind the Society’s mission to eliminate breast cancer.

“We are grateful to moe. and their community for making an impact in the lives of cancer patients and their families,” noted Barb Romeu, Director, American Cancer Society. “We are proud to partner with them to ensure everyone has a fair and just opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.”
