Keyboardist Marco Benevento returned to Radio Bean in Burlington, VT on Saturday night for a sold-out solo piano show as part of the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. Benevento was joined by longtime friend and collaborator Mike Gordon of Phish for a portion of the performance.

Marco kicked off the performance by himself to start the lone set. Gordon emerged about an hour in and utilized Radio Bean GM Joe Adler’s “reflektor” bass for his guest spots with Benevento. Mike shuffled in and out a few times during Marco’s set and watched as Marco engaged in a few quick teases of Phish staples “Bathtub Gin” and “Contact.” The loose, jammy set also featured a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Rainy Day Women #12 & #35.” In addition, Burlington songstress Kat Wright also sang a few songs with the duo including “I Put A Spell On You.”

Adler has shared a series of four videos featuring Gordon and Benevento from Saturday night. First up is “RISD,” which is followed by two clips of “At The Show” and footage of the “I Put A Spell On You” featuring Kat Wright:

We’ll keep our eyes out for more audio and video from Saturday’s show. Marco Benevento and Joe Russo’s The Benevento Russo Duo played a number of shows with Mike Gordon in 2004 and 2005 before embarking on a summer tour with both Gordon and Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio in 2006. Gordon has sit in with Marco a number of times since.
