Ska-punk pioneers The Mighty Mighty Bosstones announced their breakup. The highly influential brass-infused Boston-based band are parting ways after a nearly 40 year career.
Mighty Mighty Bosstones posted the announcement on social media. Read their note below:
After decades of brotherhood, touring the world and making great records together, we have decided to no longer continue on as a band. Above all, we want to express our sincere gratitude to every single one of you who have supported us. We could not have done any of it without you.

Formed in Boston in 1983, the immaculately dressed Mighty Mighty Bosstones pioneered the big brass ska-punk sound that led to an explosion of bands in the genre during the 1990s. The Bosstones would release their debut album, Devil’s Night Out, in 1989 and followed with nine more studio LPs with their most recent being 2021’s When God Was Great.
