Mighty Diamonds: Summer Tour

SPECIAL SHOWS IN CALIFORNIA

Jamaica’s longest running harmony trio, the Mighty Diamonds, will be featured on Ziggy Marley and Tuff Gong Worldwide’s “Salute to the Legends of Reggae” concerts at Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego, CA, on July 30 and at the Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, CA, on July 31. The Mighty Diamonds share the bill with foundation reggae artists such as the I-Threes, Bob Marley’s legendary harmony trio (Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt), Toots and the Maytals, Ras Michael and others.

“The Mighty Diamonds, I think, are the one of the premiere male vocal trios in our genre of music,” said Ziggy Marley, in a recent interview from London. “You have their songs, “Pass the Kutchie” and I Need a Roof.” They are a group that I’ve loved since I was a kid. I respect them. Hopefully, we can do this more–expose a wider variety of musicians to people. Whatever I can do to show my love and give them some way to grow their recognition; that’s one of my missions I will continue in my career. It’s not just about me; it’s about the whole movement. We all help each other along the way, you know.”

On Aug. 3, the Mighty Diamonds will perform at another historic venue, McNear’s Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, CA.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Jamaica’s classic reggae trio The Mighty Diamonds to Petaluma’s Mystic Theatre,” said Aaron Kayce, Mystic Theatre talent buyer.

“The Northern California Rasta community has asked for more reggae and we’re doing our part to fill this void. The Mystic is known for bringing legendary artists of all types through our doors and there couldn’t be a better fit for The Mighty Diamonds than the old school decor and unmatched acoustics of the historic Mystic Theatre.”
