Mickey Hart To Perform With Zakir Hussain & Niladri Kumar

Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart has been added to a concert featuring his longtime collaborator, tabla master Zakir Hussain, who is currently touring with talented sitarist Niladri Kumar. Hart will join the duo at their October 26 at Zellerbach Hall on the campus of the University Of California Berkeley.

Hussain contributed extensively to Hart’s 1991 album Planet Drum and the two percussionists also worked together in the Global Drum Project and have shared numerous live stages – including Grateful Dead shows – over the past several decades. A 25th anniversary edition of Planet Drum, boasting three new tracks and additional arrangement and composition by Hussain, is slated for release on December 2 (pre-order via this link).
