Watch Michael J. Fox Perform With Coldplay At Glastonbury

Coldplay capped a guest-filled performance at the 2024 Glastonbury festival with actor Michael J. Fox playing guitar with the British band. Femi Kuti, Victoria Canal, Little Simz, Laura Mvula and Elyanna were also among those joining frontman and his bandmates during their set Saturday at the long-running festival.

Michael J. Fox, who famously played guitar in Back To The Future and previously with Coldplay in 2016, appeared on the Glastonbury stage during Saturday’s encore. Fox has lived with Parkinson’s disease for many years and performed from a wheelchair during his appearance with Coldplay at Glastonbury.

Fox played guitar on Coldplay’s “Humankind” as the other guests also returned to the stage. Fox remained for a subsequent “Fix You,” which in a nod to his Back To The Future scene saw Martin incorporate elements of “Johnny B. Goode.”

“Especially thank you to the main reason why we’re in a band — because of watching Back to the Future — so thank you to our hero forever and one of the most amazing people on Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox,” Martin said before Fox exited the stage. “Thank you so much Michael!”

Earlier in the set, Coldplay was joined on piano by singer-songwriter Victoria Canal for “Paradise.” The massive festival audience also saw Little Simz brought out for “We Pray” with Elyanna and the Baltic String Orchestra. Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti joined the band on “Arabesque” and Laura Mvula emerged accompanied by Jonny Buckland for “Violet Hill.”
