A new 5,000-capacity venue adjacent to Fenway Park in Boston will be called the MGM Music Hall at Fenway. A groundbreaking ceremony will take place on November 22 and construction is currently scheduled for completion in Fall 2021 as per Boston.com. Plans for what was originally dubbed the Fenway Theater were first announced in 2018.

The MGM Music Hall at Fenway will be located outside the right field bleachers at the famed ballpark at the intersection of Landsdowne and Ipswich Streets. MGM Resorts International is now aboard as the naming rights partner for the venue from Fenway Sports Group subsidiary the Fenway Sports Group Real Estate. Here’s more from Boston.com’s report on the year-round venue:

In a press release, MGM Resorts Chairman and CEO Jim Murren said that with Red Sox games inside the park and performances next door at MGM Music Hall, visitors to Lansdowne Street would be able to enjoy “unforgettable experiences on both sides of the world-famous Green Monster.”

In addition to hosting a wide range of live events, owners of the mixed-use venue — which will be located on the corner of Lansdowne Street and Ipswich Street beyond Fenway’s right field bleachers — hope to partner with nearby schools, colleges, and neighborhood organizations to “create an epicenter for the performing arts community in Boston,” according to the press release. The Red Sox previously pledged to donate $500,000 to the nearby Boston Arts Academy when the project was first approved.

Fenway Music Company, the same partnership between Fenway Sports Management and Crossroads Presents that operates the House Of Blues Boston, has been tapped to manage and operate the MGM Music Hall at Fenway.
