There is sad news from The Meters‘ camp as the legendary funk band have cancelled a pair of upcoming shows. Keyboardist Art Neville will be unable to make the trip to San Francisco, so The Meters will not perform at The Fillmore on Friday, August 25 and Saturday, August 26.
The Meters features Neville along with guitarist Leo Nocentelli, bassist George Porter Jr. and Zigaboo Modeliste on drums. Ivan Neville and the Jazz Mafia Horns were set to sit-in with the 50-year old quartet. A note from The Meters reads, “Unfortunately Art Neville is unable to travel to San Francisco and perform with The Meters this weekend. He is currently under medical evaluation in New Orleans. We send our best to Art, His Family and all the fans. It’s a very very tough decision to cancel any shows, but without Art, these shows would not be The Meters.”
Refunds are available for ticketholders at point of purchase. Here’s wishing Art Neville a speedy recovery.
