Legendary funk act The Meters are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. The original lineup of drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, guitarist Leo Nocentelli, keyboardist Art Neville and bassist George Porter Jr. started 2017 with a pair of performances aboard Jam Cruise, then reunited for sets in their hometown of New Orleans during and at Jazz Fest and are scheduled to play the inaugural Arroyo Seco Weekend later this month. In August, The Meters will make a rare trip to San Francisco for two nights at the iconic Fillmore.
“The Founding Fathers Of Funk” will play the Fillmore in San Francisco on August 25 and 26. Past Meters shows this year have found the original lineup augmented by a horn section and additional musicians including Ivan Neville. Tickets for The Meters’ return to San Francisco go on sale this Friday, June 16 at 10 a.m. PT via Live Nation.
