Acclaimed actor Meryl Streep joined Broken Social Scene onstage last night during the band’s concert at Webster Hall in New York City. Actor Tracey Ullman was also part of the collaborative performance of “Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl.”
Sunday’s show was Broken Social Scene’s second of a two-night stand at Webster Hall that wrapped the Canadian collective’s fall tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of their album, You Forgot It People. BSS played 11 of the 13 songs on Fogot It People, along with a few from their other records.
“Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl,” one of the tracks off You Forgot It People, was played as the penultimate song of the night. Frontman Kevin Drew introduced Ullman, who then joined vocalists Amy Millan and Jill Harris. Shortly after the song started, Streep was encouraged to join them and the multiple Academy Award winner came out with her phone in hand to record the celebratory occasion.
