MerleFest will return to the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina September 16 – 19, 2021. Organizers also revealed the 2022 event will be held over its traditional April weekend.

Organizers rescheduled this year’s MerleFest due to the COVID-19 pandemic. MerleFest 2020 was canceled outright in the wake of the pandemic.

MerleFest’s 2021 lineup will be unveiled via the “MerleFest Artist Announcement Celebration” livestream at 7 p.m. ET on June 10 via the festival’s YouTube channel. Tickets will also go on sale that day. Additionally, the livestream special will include a look back at past MerleFests with health and safety protocols to be announced.

Organizers also confirmed they will be accepting entries for the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest (CASC) from April 15 to June 15, 2021. “CASC is one of the most acclaimed songwriting contests in roots and Americana music and has a reputation for launching careers as well as drawing attention to important new talent,” reads a note from the MerleFest team. “The contest is split into four genre-based categories including bluegrass, general, gospel, and country. First through third place winners will be chosen in each category at MerleFest 2021, which is set to take place on September 16-19, 2021.”
