Megadeth Performs Metallica’s ‘Ride The Lightning’ In Colombia

Megadeth recently embarked on a Latin American leg of the metal band’s farewell This Was Our Life Tour, which included two shows in Bogotá, Colombia. Frontman Dave Mustaine amended the setlists at Movistar Arena to include performances of Metallica’s “Ride The Lightning.”

Mustaine, who formed Megadeth in 1983 after he was fired from Metallica, has been the sole consistent member of the band. Following numerous lineup changes over the past 42 years, Mustain is currently joined in Megadeth by bassist James LoMenzo, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and drummer Dirk Verbeuren.

“Ride The Lightning” was played by Megadeth on Sunday, April 26 and again on Monday, April 27, during their concerts in Bogotá. The song was co-written by Mustaine with Metallica’s James Hetfield, Cliff Burton and Lars Ulrich, and served as the title track to their 1984 sophomore album.

Megadeth’s self-titled final album was issued in January. A recording of “Ride The Lightning” was released as a bonus track.

“As I come full circle on the career of a lifetime, the decision to include ‘Ride the Lightning,’ a song I co-wrote with James, Lars, and Cliff, was to pay my respects to where my career first started,” Mustaine said about the Megadeth bonus track.
