NEW PROJECT FOR CROWES/WIDESPREAD BOYS

Steve Gorman
By Josh Miller
Trigger Hippy – comprised of drummer Steve Gorman (The Black Crowes), guitarist Jimmy Herring (Widespread Panic), guitarist Audley Freed (Jakob Dylan, ex-Crowes, Blue Floyd) and bassist-singer Nick Govrik – will make their live debut on Saturday, February 7 in Macon, Georgia as part of the Cox Capitol Theatre‘s “Stay And Play Concert Series,” whose past participants include Chuck Leavell. A portion of the proceeds will go towards The Big House, the Allman Brothers Band museum set to open summer 2009.

“It’s backbeat jammin’. We’ve got some Freddie King, Al Green, Koko Taylor, Little Feat, Neil Young, Beatles, and really anything in this realm is fair game,” Gorman tells JamBase. The new group will convene whenever their busy schedules allow but they’re excited after a couple sweaty, promising rehearsals. “This is just the first show, this thing will continue!”

The band plans to record the Cox Capitol Theatre show and stream it on their forthcoming website so folks who can’t make it to Macon can still get their Hippy fill.
