Mdou Moctar shared Afrique Victime: The Documentary chronicling the release of the band’s latest album. The 10-minute short film was recorded in Niamey, Niger.
In December 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced guitarist Mdou Moctar and his band mates to remain in their native Niger, rather than tour the world in support of the record. Instead, the band’s American-born bassist Mikey Coltun travelled to Niger to meet up with Moctar, guitarist Ahmoudou Madassane and drummer Souleymane Ibrahim, capturing the moments presented in Afrique Victime: The Documentary.
Mdou Moctar released Afrique Victime the album in May via Matador Records. Watch Afrique Victime: The Documentary below:
