Mavis Staples Shares ‘If All I Was Was Back’ Video

Mavis Staples issued her latest studio album If All I Was Was Black last November via ANTI- Records. The legendary vocalist has shared an official video for the record’s title track single.

The 78-year-old Staples again tapped Jeff Tweedy to produce If All I Was Was Black. The Wilco frontman also produced Staples 2010 LP You Are Not Alone and 2013’s One True Vine. Tweedy wrote and performers on each of the 10 songs on If I All I Was Was Black, with Staples writing the lyrics to three tracks, including “If All I Was Was Black.”

Staples and Tweedy recorded the new album at Wilco’s recording facility in Chicago The Loft. Wilco’s Glenn Kotche was among the contributors to the record which also features Spencer Tweedy, Kelly Hogan and others.
