Mavis Staples Shares New Song ‘All In It Together’ Featuring Jeff Tweedy

Legendary vocalist Mavis Staples unveiled “All In It Together,” a new single produced by and featuring Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy. “All In It Together” is available via streaming services and can be downloaded through Bandcamp with proceeds going towards Chicago seniors organization My Block, My Hood, My City and its mission of getting Windy City area seniors the essentials they need to combat COVID-19.

Mavis Staples has a long history of collaborating with Jeff Tweedy. The pair’s latest song features Tweedy on bass, guitar and vocals, Stephen Hodges on drums, Scott Ligon on piano, Glenn Kotche on percussion as well as backing vocals from Donny Gerrard, Vicki Randle, Kelly Hogan and Akenya Seymour. Jeff and Mavis share writing credits on “All In It Together.”

“The song speaks to what we’re going through now – everyone is in this together, whether you like it or not,” noted Mavis Staples in a press release. “It doesn’t matter how much money you have, what race or sex you are, where you live…it can still touch you. It’s hit so many people in our country and around the world in such a horrible way and I just hope this song can bring a little light to the darkness. We will get through this but we’re going to have to do it together. If this song is able to bring any happiness or relief to anyone out there in even the smallest way, I wanted to make sure that I helped to do that.” Listen to “All In It Together” below:
