MonoNeon shared a new single, “Full Circle,” featuring Mavis Staples who celebrates her 85th birthday today. The track is set to land on MonoNeon’s upcoming album, Quilted Stereo, due out on July 26.

“Full Circle” is an apt title for the new track as there are threads that tie MonoNeon and Mavis Staples together. Both collaborated with Prince and MonoNeon’s father Dywane Thomas played bass with Mavis and her father Pop Staples.

MonoNeon shared his experience working with Mavis.

“Mane I got George Clinton and Mavis Staples on this album… like forreal living out my childhood dreams on this one. We went to Chicago to meet and record Mavis Staples’ vocals. When Mavis walked in the studio I could not stop smiling mane… she hugged me and held my hand! You know my dad (Dywane Thomas) played bass with Mavis and Pops Staples back in the 90’s… so for me to actually be singing a duet, playing guitar and bass on the song ‘Full Circle’ with Mavis is crazy and I love it!!”

Along with Mavis and MonoNeon contributions, the track sees Charles Haynes on drums and Phil Lassiter providing horns. Composer Davy Nathan plays keyboards and co-produced the track with MonoNeon.
