The National’s Matt Berninger Performs For CBS This Morning ‘Saturday Sessions’

The latest installment of CBS This Morning’s performance series, Saturday Sessions, featured Matt Berninger of The National. Berninger spoke with host Anthony Mason and led his band through three songs from his recently released debut solo album, Serpentine Prison.

Matt discussed leaving behind a career in advertising to move to Brooklyn, where he co-founded The National. Berninger also talked about live during the pandemic, his busy schedule and why he decided to make a studio album.

Berninger’s band for Saturday Sessions saw him backed by Sean O’Brien, Ronboy, Sterling Laws, Garret Lang, Harrison Whitford and Phil Krohnengold. The ensemble performed “One More Second,” “Serpentine Prison” and “Collar Of Your Shirt” from Serpentine Prison, an album produced by Booker T. Jones.
