MASS MoCA Announces Sylvan Esso ‘Auditory After Hours’ Listening Experiences

Sylvan Esso curated a soundtrack for MASS MoCA’s new Auditory After Hours series. Visitors who purchase tickets for the experience can explore the North Adams, Massachusetts museum after hours while listening to a set recorded by the duo consisting of vocalist Amelia Meath and multi-instrumentalist Nick Sanborn.

The Auditory After Hours experiences curated by Sylvan Esso are slated for January 9, 16 and 23. While tickets for the 9th have sold out, some remain for slots on the 16th and 23rd via MASS MoCA’s website.

Auditory After Hours attendees need to bring their own smartphone or other WiFi enabled listening device and headphones in order to access the music. Ticketholders can arrive anytime within 30 minutes of their timed tickets and will receive an email containing a link to the music. While the galleries will be open until 9 p.m., the music will be accessible through 9:30 p.m. ET.

Sylvan Esso’s recording is said to incorporate “sounds from past albums that will bring [MASS MoCA’s] galleries to new vibrant life.” Head here for more details as well as safety protocols in place.
