Singer-songwriter Maren Morris released a cover of the Billy Idol classic “Dancing With Myself.” Morris’ fresh spin on the song arrived on Singles Awareness Day with a video filmed at the beloved Nashville record store Grimey’s.
Co-written by Idol and Gen X bandmate Tony James, “Dancing With Myself” was originally released by the English punk band as a single in 1980. Billy Idol remixed and re-issued the song the following year as a solo artist. “Dancing With Myself” helped Idol breakthrough in America thanks in large part to its video airing repeatedly on the new cable channel MTV.

Maren Morris’ “Dancing With Myself” marks her first new music of the year. The Grammy-winning artist issued The Bridge EP in 2023 featuring the single “The Tree.” Morris performed “The Tree” on Fallon last November with Mickey Guyton and Brittney Spencer.
“I am so excited to partner with a company like Visible who prioritizes self-empowerment and independence for their mobile plans,” explained Maren Morris of the company that sponsored the track in a statement. “Recording and filming the music video for my cover of Billy Idol’s “Dancing with Myself” was such a dream come true and I hope fans can dance along while also knowing it’s okay to be in your feelings.”
Next up for Maren Morris is a performance at the Billboard Women In Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on March 6. Additionally, Morris will be feted at the event with the Visionary Award thanks to her long history of speaking out over injustices in country music and beyond.
