The Marcus King Band is back with a new single, “Honky Tonk Hell.” The track is “a first taste of new music” and arrived via American Records/Republic Records.
Guitarist and singer-songwriter Marcus King has largely released music as a solo artist over the past five years, putting out three excellent albums, El Dorado, Young Blood and Mood Swings. “Honky Tonk Hell” marks the first new Marcus King Band music since the 2018 LP, Carolina Confessions. A press release noted that more new music is on the way from the guitarist’s group.

The new single sees Marcus continuing to process his sobriety.
“‘Honky Tonk Hell’ is an anthem for anyone out there like myself who have struggled with the permanence of sobriety—those who fear the thought they will never again howl at the moon,” King stated. “This song for me serves as a reminder to take it all one day at a time.”
“Honky Tonk Hell” is a country-rock stomper infused with King’s sizzling guitar work and a touch of dobro. Watch the lyric video for “Honky Tonk Hell” below:
